OUR MISSION, OUR VISION, OUR MOTTO

Our mission is to provide a distance learning experience that rivals with the world's best campus-based universities at a truly affordable price [see our compare and cost pages].

We have analyzed the experience of students who have attended regular on-campus institutions, both in Europe and in the US as well as the experience of those who have acquired their training through distance and online programs. The result is a selection of programs, methods and technologies that avoid "wasted time" and empower the accelerated acquisition of essential knowledge...

Our goal is that our students complete their degree programs having acquired valuable professional competencies, essential life-management skills, and the ability to acquire knowledge-on-demand throughout their careers.

Euclid's programs are carefully conceived to distill essential know-how as well as practical, applicable skills. In fact, Euclid's programs include classes that are not normally included in other academic systems.

Time-management, social-skills, cultural interactions, self-motivation and career-building courses are at heart of most programs...

WHO WE SERVE

Euclid University extension is by status and vocation an international institution. Our special service area is French-Speaking Africa, but we aim to serve students located around the world, both in English and French-speaking countries.

Because of Euclid's accreditation and program conformity, students from all walks of life have chosen Euclid as their passport to growth and success.

We are clear on the fact that Euclid's program may not be for everyone. Our goal is to offer you the tools you need to acquire critical knowledge as fast as possible, and to make sure that your academic knowledge or professional skills are matched with proper credits.

Euclid is a distance extension, which means that if the experience of campus life and peer support is essential, you should consider traditional studies, at least for part of your studies.

Euclid accepts credits from other accredited institutions, and sometimes recommends that certain difficult classes be taken at a local accredited institution, in a classroom environment.

OUR APPROACH

While not strictly required, access to the Internet is highly recommended. Classes are delivered by various means: lectures on video, DVD, audio cassettes and MP3s, as well as textbook-based mentor-directed self-studies. Euclid uses leading e-learning technologies to achieve its goal of 'accelerated learning'. In particular, Euclid uses such tools as:

Safarix online textbooks (subscription PDF)
Personable Virtual Desktops
Jones eGlobal Knowledge
Questia
TrainSignal CBT
CBTPlanet
MIT OpenCourseWare
GlobalKnowledge Self-Paced e-Learning
Teaching Company Courses

Each degree program consists of a recommended sequence of credit-granting courses called a 'roadmap'.

Credits are granted when the course requirements and assignments are completed.

Because reading is the faster way to acquire knowledge (compared to listening to lectures), a moderate to fast reader can normally complete a 2-credit course in 2-6 weeks. This means that with a 120-credit Bachelor's Degree program can be completed in about 3 years.

Euclid's study requirements (on any format) are carefully selected to offer the best delivery of information on the subject at hand. In all fields, reference works are privileged over controversial or complex publications.

Euclid is the university of choice if:

    • you are familiar with the Teaching Company products and desire to convert your listening hours into credits
    • you are self-motivated and able to read at a moderate to fast speed
    • you have a critical mind and like comparing perspectives and arguments on various issues
    • you are working professional with the ability to read or listen to tapes but to not be on campus
    • you are seeking a faster way to start on-campus graduate studies
    • you are a certified IT professional seeking an IT degree
    • you have acquired or plan to acquire credits from various sources
    • you have a hobby that you would like to turn into a degree and a career

Please call any university officer or the admissions office if you have any questions on our degrees and programs.

OUR NAME AND MOTTO

Euclid University Extension takes its name from the great Greek mathematician Euclid, famous for his axiomatic foundation of Euclidean geometry.

It should be remembered that Albert Einstein was able to develop his theory of general relativity by adopting a non-Euclidean system of geometry developped by Lobachevsky. May this be an image of our students building on the works of others and challenging what they have learned to move towards ever more creative horizons.

For more information about Euclid, please visit our Euclid Biography Page.

As is traditional, Euclid adopted a latin motto to express its philosophy and uniqueness.

"Audi et alteram partem" means "Let is also hear the other side".

Euclid is uniquely committed to the dialectical approach to learning. Opinions from diverses horizons are presented and confronted, thus helping the student to analyze data on his own and to develop his own conclusions.

Almost every Euclid program includes a great deal of "studying conflict opinions" with a unique focus on mutual understanding, negociation, diplomatic and consensus building. This unique approach is especially visible at the Pavel Florensky School of Theology and Ministry where 30% the courses are delivered in the form of audio debates.
